The Gambler 03:33
Well know I’ve had some good times, but they never last that long. Climbed to the top of the mountains and I learned to sing my song. CHORUS Days are lining up in front of me, I knock them over one by one. The stakes are getting higher. Like a gambler I can’t stop. The ride is slowing down now and my feet are getting cold. Don’t wanna go to that place again where lives are bought and sold. CHORUS Babadada badada da da etc I’m going round in circles. Yeah I’ve seen it all before, but if you turn your painting over, well you might see something more. CHORUS

Fruit Lady 02:32
My heart is made of mango and my fingers are ten ripe bananas. My head’s a big fat melon and my toes are segments of a tangerine, Chorus ‘cos I’m the fruit lady, yeah yeah. I’m the fruit lady, yeah yeah. I’m the fruit lady, yeah yeah yeah yeah. Well if I’m feeling hungry I’ll eat two of my fingers and grow some more. And when I run too fast my lychee eyes pop out and roll along the floor, Chorus Sometimes I get sad and I cry tears of lemonade. I cry until I’ve filled a glass, then go outside and drink it in the shade, Chorus

I’m sitting on a mountain top. Watching the world go by. It’s raining to the left of me, but sunny on the other side, whoo! It seems so clear from here, if things aren’t good for you, sit back and wait a while, those clouds will roll on by, whoo! I can see my house from here. It’s such a long way home. Just wanna stay up high. Don’t ever wanna come back down, whoo! I wrote a song today about sitting on a mountain top. It was raining to the left of me, but sunny on the other side WHOO!!

Magic Paints 03:54
I have got some magic paints, everything I paint with them comes true. I’m mixing up some red and yellow and lots and lots of blue. Yeah I will paint a perfect day for you. I’ll paint all of your favourite things and lots you’re never seen. Some of them will be so strange you’ll think you’re in a dream. I’ll paint some cows in sky blue pink, some pigs fluorescent green, a spotty cat with sixteen legs eating an ice cream. Yeah I have got some magic paints, everything I paint with them comes true. I’m mixing up some red and yellow and lots and lots of blue. Yeah I will paint a perfect day for you. I’ll paint a rocket that will take us right up to the moon. There we’ll eat some floating peas with a giant spoon. I’ll paint us up some aliens, we’ll take them home with us. We will get some funny looks when we get on the bus! Yeah I have got some magic paints, everything I paint with them comes true. I’m mixing up some red and yellow and lots and lots of blue. Yeah I will paint a perfect day for you. When I’m old and getting bored, need something new to see, then it will be time for you to paint something for me. For now I’ll make the most of it before the paints run dry. I’ll paint us a hot sunny day and wings so we can fly. Yeah I have got some magic paints, everything I paint with them comes true. I’m mixing up some red and yellow and lots and lots of blue. Yeah I will paint a perfect day for you, I will paint a perfect day for you, yeah I will paint a perfect day for you!

The smell of Calor Gas takes me right back to a caravan in Yarmouth in the 60’s. Long days on the beach, picnics under clear blue skies. I wish that I could feel that way again. Oh it takes me back. Close my eyes and I am there, in a caravan in Yarmouth in the 60’s. Meeting up with cousins, Aunts and Uncles, Grandparents, feeling safe behind our wind break. Eating peaches on the sand, juice runs down to our elbows, go and wash it off in the sea. Oh it takes me back. Close my eyes and I am there, in a caravan in Yarmouth in the 60’s. Evenings at the fun fair, full of laughter and of fear, screams and music blending together. Roller coaster, laughing policeman, fun house, helter skelter, going round and round and round again…. Went back last year, the caravan site’s now a car park, the magic at the fun fair wasn’t there. But, the smell of Calor Gas takes me right back to a caravan in Yarmouth in the 60’s. And I wish that I could feel that way again, yeah I wish that I could feel that way again, I wish that I could feel that way again.

In, Out 04:09
I like my questions multiple choice. I want true bypass on my voice. I always wear my jeans in, wear them in before I wear them out. We used to try to find a way to get around you every day. The trouble we were in, we were in when you found us out. Money doesn’t grow on trees, but banks they make no sense to me. I put my money in, I put it in and then I take it out. There’s a lot of songs inside, so open that cigar box wide. The box that they are in, they are in ‘til you let them out. I like my questions multiple choice. I want true bypass on my voice. I always wear my jeans in, wear them in before I wear them out, yeah I wear them out.

Oh the sun’s beating down, on the pale and dusty ground, as I wait for the rain. I’ve been walking for miles, and my mouth is so dry, as I wait for the rain. Well the cracks start to show, can’t hide it anymore, as I wait for the rain. 1st verse repeated
9.
Going Home 02:38
A breeze stirs the grass, wakes a memory from the past. Roots twist and turn. The light from a torch upon the ground. A voice is calling me home. Time slips and slides. Words are jumping out of rhyme. The record starts again. I know every single line, and a voice is calling me home. Years piling up. A dusty room, a broken clock, books that won’t be read. It doesn’t matter cos I know that a voice is calling me home. I’m Going home, yeah I’m going home, whoooo I’m going home.
10.
The Line 02:55
You drew a line, you stepped across it. I drew a circle, I sat inside. Squares of black and white all around me. The King can only move one space at a time. Your eyes are shining, but the feeling's gone. My hands are shaking now, I can't control it. I sit and wait for your final move. You drew a line, you stepped across it. I drew a circle, I sat inside. As I sit here waiting for your final move, the song we're singing fades away. Yeah the song we're singing fades away, it fades away......

Amy 02:40
Amy tripped over, she leaned too far. Amy tripped over, she leaned too far. She’s been in this world more than fifty years. She’ll take away all of your fears, yeah Amy. I used to work with Amy, a long time ago. I used to work with Amy, a long time ago. She always came round twice a day. Sometime we’re going to have to pay, for Amy. Amy turned up again, a few months ago. Amy turned up again, a few months ago. She makes me see things that are not there. She makes me tired, but she makes me care, yeah Amy. Repeat first verse
12.
Chorus It’s one step forward, two steps back. One step forward, and two steps back. Been swimming against the tide for so long now. Hasn’t got me very far, but I’m not gonna drown. Chorus I thought we’d talked it over, thought we’d got it straight, but today you start to say the same old things. Chorus Seasons are flipping by, colours change. Everything has got to die before it grows again. Chorus
13.
Lines and marks upon your face are a map of where you’ve been, but they don’t show me where to go. Radio on the windowsill. No one ever turns it on. I hear it playing in my head. Chorus When the music stops we all sit down, when it starts again we all rush around. Looking through binoculars the wrong way round, I see back to where you were. Faded scenes in black and white dance around before my eyes, leading back to where I stand. Chorus In a box I find a key to a door that isn’t there, I keep it anyway. And the soundtrack of our lives keeps playing day and night, all feeling the same beat. When the music stops we all sit down, when it starts again we all rush around. When the music stops, yeah when the music stops, what happens, when the music stops?
14.
Cogs forever turning, they never stop. Sometimes it all lines up. It’s a perfect moment, a perfect moment. A chord is a surface where things can grow. Play above, sing below, yeah sometimes it all lines up. It’s a perfect moment, a perfect moment. You climb a mountain in the pouring rain. See a rainbow forget the pain. Sometimes it all lines up. It’s a perfect moment, a perfect moment. I write a song, lose track of time. Don’t want to make it rhyme, but sometimes it all lines up. It’s a perfect moment, a perfect moment. Go and sing it on the street. The sun comes out, I feel the beat. Yeah sometimes it all lines up. It’s a perfect moment, a perfect moment, a perfect moment.
15.
The Enemy 04:08
If I think hard I can float, just above my enemy, but it feels like I’m running, running out of energy. Sipping whiskey from the bottle, genie bottled up. Forget everything you know and start again. You said I sound like cool water, didn’t feel the undertow. Sometimes life gets in the way of where you want to go. Sipping whiskey from the bottle, feelings bottled up. Forget everything you know and start again. The weeds are coming up now, they’re pushing through the cracks. I’m just painting by numbers ‘till the feeling comes back. Now the whiskey bottle’s empty, it’s time to let it go. Forget everything you know and start again.
16.
We were shouting underwater, floating upside down. Yeah those were the days my friend, no one else around. Rolling down the hillside, climbing up a tree, I could see for miles and miles the day you went away. Riding on white horses through a world of black and white, but there were monsters in the shadows waiting there for me. We were shouting underwater, floating upside down. Yeah those were the days my friend, ‘till you turned it upside down.
17.
Did you peep through your eyelashes when told to pray at school? Did you often find yourself questioning the rules? Please tell me, yeah tell me I wasn’t the only one. Do you sometimes feel like the string on a balloon, drifting aimlessly wherever the wind takes you? Please tell me, yeah tell me I’m not the only one. These days it always seems I’m always running out of time, but I keep singing my song louder every day….. In this ever changing world I need you to be the same. Your glass is not half empty so talk to me again and tell me, please tell me I’m the only one, the only one, the only one.
18.
Pass It On 03:46
Points of light in the blackness, been there for so long. It’s time to join them up. Chorus And we all hear the story, listen, pass it on. Is it all, or is it nothing? I can never tell, but you showed me where to look. Chorus Start a fire in the morning, never let it die. Stare all night into the flames. Chorus Points of light in the blackness, been there for so long. It’s time to say goodbye.
19.
20.
I’m standing in a shop doorway hiding from the rain. It’s a five minute pause and then, here we go again. Chorus Flip flopping my way through the summer days, white arrows on my feet show the way to go. Tripping over clichés as I try to find something new to say about the summer. An English summer has to be too hot, or else it is too cold. Need something to talk about, distract us from the world. Chorus You’ve got to make the most of it when the sun shines down on you, ‘cos it can all be whipped away, nothing you can do. Chorus I have my head up in the clouds a big part of the day. It’s a pretty good way to spend your time until they blow away. Flip flopping my way through the summer days, white arrows on my feet show the way to go. Tripping over clichés as I try to find something new to say about the summer. Yeah something new to say about the summer. There’s nothing new to say about the summer.
